Welcome
TO THE SHIP INN PORTLOE
owned by our Community and at the heart of our village
In December 2025, The Ship Inn was reopened as a Community Pub / Free House owned by local members of the community with a mission to provide a warm welcome, good food and drink and overnight accommodation for walkers and visitors by cliff, fields, road and sea. Originally known as “The Portloe Drinking Kitchen”.
The Ship now offers a range of Cornish beers including Sharp's Doom Bar and Atlantic with Guinness, Madri and Star all on draft and plenty of low alcohol beers and soft drinks. Our food offering is designed to be simple to begin with a limited menu that will develop over time and our aim is to feature pop ups and specials.
We have a beautiful beer garden and are a short walk uphill from the harbour which is home to a number of inshore fishing boats.
The village is also well known for regularly featuring in films and with appearances in Mary Wesley's The Camomile Lawn; The Wild West and the movie "About Time" which was filmed in the village and the church.
The Portloe Community Benefit Society has purchased The Ship Inn, to serve the community and visitors. We invite you to visit us!

“Why not stay with us? We aim to provide a selection of rooms for a great night sleep.

OUR DRINKS

We stock Cornish brewed real ales which include Doom Bar and Atlantic, we sell a lot of Guinness / Zero, and keep Madri and Star lager on draft. We even stock Erdinger Alkohlfrei a popular wheat beer brewed to be alcohol free, isotonic and low in calories.

We offer a good selection of wines from Ellis Wharton wines with a good selection of spirits and soft drinks.

OUR FOOD

Our current food offer consists of a very simple snack menu based around toasties, cold cuts and chips with an excellent range of crisps and nuts. Our goal as we become more established is to build on this simple menu but to remain delicious, affordable and fast. We hate saying no to anyone. We have an amazing opportunity as we are fortunate to have probably one of the best equipped pub kitchens for our size and great local produce. Bit by bit we will put it together to provide great plates of food.
