WELCOME

Welcome

TO THE SHiP INN PORTLOE

We hope to see you soon -
Nick, Jarrad and all of us at The Ship Inn

Portloe is a small Cornish fishing village in the parish of Veryan. It is well known for its beautiful scenery and the Roseland coastal path. Portloe is also known as the gem of the Roseland.

The Ship Inn was originally a small inn known locally as

“The Drinking Kitchen”. The adjoining fisherman’s cottage was later incorporated into the inn,

The inn has links with the famous smugglers of brandy of which a landlord was imprisoned in the 1800's.

Retaining some of its original features, the pub is in the heart of the village, offering locally brewed beers, Cornish spirits and featured gins with a locally sourced menu offering hot and cold food through out the year.

We have  a spacious beer garden adjacent to the building nestled in rolling hills and Cornish stone walls.

We are a short walk from the small harbour which is home to a small number of fishing boats working to this day.

The village is also well known for several TV appearances such as the Wild West and the movie About Time which was filmed in the local church.

Portloe’s neighbouring villages include Veryan which is famous for its round houses and Carne which has miles of sandy beaches at low tide.
