The Ship Inn Portloe
Our much loved Community Pub

Welcome
TO THE SHIP INN PORTLOE
owned by our Community and at the heart of our village
In December 2025, The Ship Inn was reopened as a Community Pub / Free House owned by local members of the community. Our mission is to provide a warm welcome, good food and drink and overnight accommodation, for walkers and visitors by cliff, fields, road and sea. Originally known as “The Portloe Drinking Kitchen”.
The Ship now offers a range of Cornish beers, with Guinness, Madri and Staropramen all on draft and plenty of low alcohol beers and soft drinks. We don't yet have a food offering other than bar snacks, but this is all in development.
We have a beautiful beer garden and are a short walk from the harbour which is home to a number of inshore fishing boats.
The village is also well known for regularly featuring in films, with appearances in Mary Wesley's The Camomile Lawn; The Wild West and the movie "About Time" which was filmed in the village and the church.
The Portloe Community Benefit Society has purchased The Ship Inn, to serve the community and visitors.
We invite you to visit us!

“Why not stay with us? Our accommodation is currently under renovation but we plan to have rooms available in mid-April.

Our Food & Drinks
OUR DRINKS
We stock Cornish, locally brewed real ale, Guinness on draft and Guinness Zero in cans. We have a large number of alcohol free options and soft drinks.
Why choose The Ship?
Good value - The Ship Inn is a Community pub and we are all feeling the cost of living pressures - but we are a Free House, not tied to a Brewery, so we are committed to keep our prices as low as possible - whilst keeping our heads above water - but of course we need your support to do so.
Good fun - we are running regular Quiz Nights every Wednesday from 8pm. Introducing well known Board games to play anytime.
To date we have run three music evenings with Sid and Tim; Du Hag Owr and Ros Ker - both Cornish Sea Shanty groups. We will do more so please keep an eye on this site on local notice boards and and on our FB pages. We aspire to develop a regular schedule and newsletter.
OUR FOOD
Our food offer is developing well and we are pleased to report is very much enjoyed by local people and visitors. To avoid disappointment, please call or email well in advance to book so we can get our ordering and staffing levels set.
